Earle’s first documentary feature film, Red Hot and Cool: Stolen Moments, looks and listens to the impact of HIV/AIDS on communities of color in the U.S. and around the world. In addition to directing the film, Earle produced the accompanying album, which features music by The Roots, Herbie Hancock, Donald Byrd, Don Cherry, Alice Coltrane and Pharaoh Sanders. Earle went on to direct the music films Steely Dan’s Two Against Nature and Inner City Blues: The Music of Marvin Gaye
